Webnode Review: Should you use Webnode to build your website?

Introduction

Webnode, a website builder was launched in 2008 and since then it has become successful in getting around 30 million users on board. Webnode’s success notwithstanding, there are some who ask whether Webnode is worth trying? Is Webnode safe to use?

This webnode review has been written keeping these concerns in mind. At the end of this, you would be able to judge for yourself whether or not Webnode is meant for you.

Webnode: Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
  • Its editor is easy to use and beginner-friendly
  • No prior website building experience required
  • It supports multilingualism-specially the Profi plan supports unlimited languages
  • Webnode has professionally designed templates which are responsive as well
  • It offers a free plan that would help you to explore the website before purchasing any of its premium plans
  • Structured editor
  • Cannot edit templated sections
  • It does not have its app market
  • It is possible to create basic blog however, it misses out basic  functionalities such as adding comment section or scheduling the post
  • Limited e-commerce features
  • Many templates are not SEO-friendly
  • It does not have multiple touchpoints for customer support
  • Its premium plans could offer more value for money

Ease of use

When it comes to ease of use, Webnode is a beginner-friendly website builder. With the drag and drop facility, you can design your website the way you want.

Its editor is structured, therefore, it does not give you enough freedom to drag and drop elements anywhere you want on the page. However, the structured editor helps you give a sensible finishing look to the site, where every element is placed in an organized manner.

Furthermore, the editor is intuitive, making adding sections, elements and changing the background images easier.

You would be able to add the following sections in your website with just a few clicks:

  • Pricelist
  • Order form
  • Photo Gallery
  • Contact
  • Reservation
  • Heading
  • Text and image
  • Two text column
  • Services
  • Heading with button
  • Two column
  • Three column
  • Newsletter Registration
  • Portfolio
  • Testimonials

Not only this, there is an option of blank section and you can add whatever you want to add in this section.

Templates

webnode template

Webnode has professionally designed templates. This beautiful collection covers a number of categories, including:

  • Business
  • E-Commerce
  • Personal
  • Blog
  • Restaurants and Food
  • Music
  • Portfolio
  • Wedding

You can do a preview of templates at the point of choosing them. However, be mindful of the fact that once you select a template and start working on it, you cannot change it during editing.

Moreover, you cannot make changes in its HTML or CSS. However, its editor gives you the freedom to make changes in its background and add the elements of your choice.

Webnode does not provide a blank template, enabling you to create your own theme from scratch. Whereas, its competitors such as Wix or Duda offer this facility. Therefore, those who have used Wix start comparing Webnode with Wix and in the Webnode Vs. Wix battle, the former loses.

Furthermore, you cannot make changes in the sections provided by Webnode templates. If you don’t want to keep a section of the template, you can delete it. However, you can add new sections to create your own website designs.

Multilingualism

The greatest competitive advantage of Webnode is its multilingual support. You can run your website in multiple languages. That is a really good option if you want to create your site to target the audience across the world. However, you will have to create a new page for every language.

Though Webnode supports unlimited languages, this is possible only when you buy its Profi plan. However, if you subscribe to its standard plan then you’ll be able to run your site in two languages only.

Blog

webnode blog

Adding a blog to the website through Webnode is similar to adding other pages. Moreover, you can add sections and elements and make the required changes. There is a facility to schedule your posts.

However, it is worth reminding that Webnode does not suit those whose sole purpose is blogging. Also, it does not let you add a comments section, though HTML Disqus can be added by making changes. Moreover, there are no draft posts as well as blog categories.

App Store

Many website builders have their app stores, including both free and paid apps. However, Webnode does not have an app store. This may be compensated by adding widgets and small tools through HTML codes.

SEO

Webnode supports basic SEO. You can add title tags, meta descriptions, image ALT tags and URLs. These are all editable.

However, some of the templates do not use SEO-friendly headings. Moreover, Webnode does not let you create 301 redirects.

E-Commerce

When it comes to e-commerce, there are pros and cons of using Webnode. It seems pretty easy to establish an online store where you can add over 10,000 products.

You can showcase your products through images, manage orders, track the entire inventory and customer data, etc. However, you cannot add coupons and import and export options. Also, you cannot add product variants.

On top of it, you will have to pay extra for Standard or Profi plans to take your e-commerce game to the next level.

This is why if you need a really good website builder for an online store or bigger e-commerce projects, Webnode is not recommended. Though it can be considered for building a basic online store’s website.

Customer Support

Webnode has its knowledge base consisting of lots of frequently asked questions. You need to go to their knowledge base and enter keywords in the search box. There will be a list of related content where you would find your required answer.

Apart from FAQs, you can also get help through email. However, email support is available five days a week. That means if you are working on weekends and need help, you will have to wait till Monday.

Here Webnode lags behind its competitors, who offer strong customer support. It misses out offering great customer support in the following ways:

  • 24/7 phone call support
  • Live chat support
  • Support through social media
  • Forums
  • Webinars
  • Video tutorials

Webnode Pricing

Though Webnode offers creating a website free of cost, it comes with a lot of limitations such as limited storage or bandwidth.

In addition, Webnode offers premium services. These are:

  • Profi
  • Standard
  • Mini
  • Limited

webnode pricing plan

Limited

This plan lets you attach your own domain, however, you cannot have a free domain. That means either you attach your own domain or purchase one from Webnode.

It comes with 100 MB storage and 1 GB bandwidth. It offers premium customer support to limited offer users. You can also get website statistics from the last 30 days in this plan.

The Limited plan is the most inexpensive plan, costing $3.95 per month.

Mini

This plan charges a bit more than the Limited plan – $5.95 per month. It justifies it by offering extra services, including a free domain for 1 year with the storage of 500 MB and 3 GB bandwidth.

Just like the Limited plan you can use your own domain too that you already have or purchase one from Webnode.

Apart from the domain, this plan includes “Premium Customer Support”, “Form builder”, “Website statistics”, one email account and video background for your site.

Standard

This is Webnode’s most popular plan. In addition to offering a free domain for one year, it offers more storage (2 GB) and 10 GB bandwidth as compared to the Mini and Limited plans.

If you already have a domain, you can connect it to Webnode or purchase one from Webnode.

This plan has some of the features of the Mini plan such as Form builder, Website statistics and video background.

What makes this plan popular is that it offers 20 email accounts. You can also build an online store within this plan.

Another added advantage of purchasing this plan is that there is no Webnode advertising. It would also let you integrate with Google analytics.

Around 100 members would be able to register to your site if you use this plan. Moreover, it will let you create a website in two different languages.

Not only this, it offers 5 backups. This plan is for $11.95 per month.

Profi

This plan is meant for professional websites. Webnode’s most expensive plan that costs $19.95 per month offers more value for money.

With free domain for 1 year, it offers 5 GB of storage and unlimited bandwidth.

Like Webnode’s other plans, this plan offers linking your existing domain with Webnode or buying one from Webnode. In addition, subscribers enjoy premium customer support.

This plan also lets you build forms, add video background and view website statistics. 100 email accounts are part of this plan.

Like the Standard plan, Profi lets you build an online store. Another similarity of this plan with the Standard plan is the lack of advertisements. Furthermore, this plan, too, offers integration with Google analytics.

In addition, subscribers enjoy unlimited membership registration, multiple language versions and backup recovery.

Conclusion

Webnode is beginner-friendly and an easy to use website builder.

If you want to create a website that supports multiple-languages, Webnode seems like a perfect choice where the Standard plan lets you build a website in two languages or where its Mini plan lets you build a site in more than two languages.

Though Webnode’s free plan lacks some basic yet important features, it nonetheless lets you create a basic site. However, if your site requires additional features, you can consider buying one of the paid plans as required.

Many competitors in the market have their app stores, whereas Webnode does not, which puts it at a disadvantage.

Moreover, it is not considered ideal for blogging purposes. Many of its templates offer basic SEO support and lack important SEO features such as creating 301 redirects.

And though Webnode offers competitive prices, it could still offer more value for money in each of its plans.
